    PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion

    Kenny Dosu

This moisturizer was recommended to me for my dry and dehydrated skin by my dermatologist. The minute I started using this product, I knew it would be my go-to; I'm known for being picky, so this is the longest I've used a moisturizer!

It gives you a glowy finish, and your face will definitely feel hydrated and plumped after using this lotion. It doesn't have a perfume smell or anything strong in it, so it doesn't irritate skin either. Use this product every day and night and your skin will thank you!
  • Tatcha
    The Silk Canvas Protective Primer

    Kenny Dosu

Tatcha's primer often shows up in many a YouTuber's videos with rave reviews, of course. After trying it out, I believe that Tatcha really does live up to its name.

This primer gives you a nice flawless finish if you put it on correctly and apply your foundation the right way. It doesn't make you dry or oily, and it literally helps minimize your pores and holds your makeup down. The texture of the primer isn't silicone or oil-based, either. It's a bit thick and it applies to the skin nicely.
  • Sephora
    Microsmooth Foundation Face Powder

I've heard about Sephora's Microsmooth Foundation Face Powder for a very long time, but it took me a while before actually purchasing it. Luckily, after trying it out, I loved it!

To effectively use this powder, apply it after you apply your primer as you would a regular powder foundation, but don't put on too much! After that, put liquid foundation on top. Finally, finish up with this powder again.

It really lives up to its micro smooth name with the texture and feel of it. You can even put a little on if you want to step out real quick, and it'll give you a nice subtle coverage and finish. It keeps your face smooth and flawless.
  • Laura Mercier
    Translucent Loose Setting Powder

    Kenny Dosu

This setting powder works well to set under-eye concealers. The consistency is loose and thin, and it doesn't leave any flashback, which is a plus for any woman of color. It doesn't leave a dry or ashy feel on the skin at all, either. It blends well into skin and brightens the under-eye area.

You can also use it to set your eyelid primer when you want to wear eyeshadow. It sets really nicely and gives you a smooth base to do your eyeshadow. This powder also works for setting your face primer before applying your foundation. It'll help your makeup from creasing!
  • MAC
    Pro Longwear Paint Pot

    Kenny Dosu

This primer works wonders when you want to do vibrant, colorful eyeshadow looks. You've probably tried using concealer as an eyeshadow primer - which does work - but when you start using this base, you'll never go back. It really helps to enhance the pigment in your eyeshadows, and it doesn't crease once you set the primer.

One thing I recommend doing is applying a little bit of this primer on your smile lines after you put on your regular face primer. It's a little extra step that helps enhance your primer!
  • Juvia's Place
I Am Magic Velvety Matte Foundation

    Kenny Dosu

Juvia's Place is a Black-owned company that creates amazing products for all sorts of skin tones. This foundation in particular is extremely full coverage! It doesn't have a strong perfumy smell, which is great because sometimes strong fragrances in products can lead to skin irritation.

A little goes a long way with this foundation - so much so that you might be surprised how small an amount you can use for full coverage. It's a liquid foundation with a creamy texture, and it's also long-lasting. You can wear this foundation for a whole day without getting oily or seeing any creasing.

It also doesn't oxidize, it blends well into the skin, and it gives you a flawless finish. But my favorite thing about this foundation was that I was able to find my shade without having to mix two different foundations - a common problem for women of color.
  • Juvia’s Place
    I Am Magic Concealer

    Kenny Dosu

Use this concealer with the foundation above for the perfect base makeup set. Like the foundation, I love that I was able to find the perfect under-eye concealer for my skin type and tone with Juvia's Place's wide range of colors.

The concealer is bright enough for anyone to get just the right under eye highlight. It blends well into the skin, and it also has great coverage.

The packaging is really cute, and it has a lot of product in the tube. The applicator is also amazing; it's thick and pulls out enough product so there isn't any waste! I recommend this product to anyone that likes a full coverage concealer.
  • Coastal Scents
    Contour and Blush Palette

    Kenny Dosu

This blush palette is 3 in 1 and amazingly inexpensive! It comes with an under-eye highlight, contour powder, and blush. Personally, I mostly use the contour and the blush because they compliment my complexion so well. The colors of the blushes in the palette are really quite pretty, and a little of each goes a long way.

The contour powder is great to use any time because it's the perfect dark shade for skin tones like mine to give you that chiseled look. It's an affordable palette, but you won't be able to tell because it blends well and looks pretty when applied.

I recommend this product to anyone that doesn't like to have hundreds of products in their collection.
  • Bobbi Brown
    Highlighting Powder

    Kenny Dosu

This highlighter is perfect for all skin complexions. It's not ashy, and it isn't harsh on the skin. It glides on so effortlessly and works well as the finishing touch to your makeup. You can also wear this highlighter on your bare face for a nice, slight sparkle.

You can wear it in various ways as an everyday highlight or on a glam makeup look. It's buildable, and it stands out. I would also recommend putting some on your inner tear duct in combination with eyeshadow to really make your eyes pop.
  • Morphe
    Continous Setting Mist

    Kenny Dosu

This setting mist pulls your whole makeup look together. It works well even if you have on tons of different powders and products to perfectly set your makeup for the day. It's so good that you'll be sure to buy a backup!

It has a semi-dewy finish, and it helps your makeup last all day. Plus, makeup won't move or crease! Based on use, it also helps a bit with toning down oil. Overall, I think this is a perfect finishing touch to your makeup.
