Chante Williams, of @chante_allday, is an avid blogger, single mother, and Instagrammer who loves to travel and share tips about fashion. She aims to lead a sustainable lifestyle with her choices in clothing, skincare, and household products. After seeing her earnest attitude towards living low-waste, we contacted her to talk about her best products.
She says, "Here, I’ve rounded up a few easy products that can help you reduce waste! From fashion to self-care, and products that even work for home bodies like me, I've got a lineup of my favorite products and brands that will remind you of the essential reasons to be mindful of your daily consumption."
OSEA is a vegan and cruelty-free brand that sources responsibly, and all their containers can be recycled. This particular eco-friendly scrub is very rich with lots of texture. It makes you feel as if you're at a spa each time you use it. It's a great product to pamper yourself with!
Since the scent is quite calming and relaxing, it's a good pick-me-up when used before bed or when stressed. Just scrub a small portion onto each section of your skin for 30 seconds in the shower and then rinse it off. It'll leave your skin feeling silky smooth and help it retain moisture.
These food huggers are helpful in pushing you to be extremely mindful of food waste. They're designed to protect produce from going bad, and you can even put them over fresh fruits or vegetables. So when a recipe calls for half a cup of an onion, you can use this to easily store the leftover onion!
Food Huggers come in many sizes, which is helpful when working with many different items in your kitchen. The company itself is woman-owned, and the plastic-free design is good for the environment because they can be used over and over again.
They're also super flexible and easy to stretch over any produce. Personally, I use them mainly for onions, since they're so simple to use and fit on securely.
ZipTop's containers are best used in the kitchen but you can basically use them for anything. They come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and colors, so it can fit easily into any lifestyle or color scheme—it's even great for kids. Each bag is food grade, plastic-free, microwave safe, and freezer-friendly.
You can store all kinds of foods in these bags, like soups, sandwiches, and frozen treats! They're very easy to clean and are also dishwasher safe. Since they're reusable, it makes for less waste. If you have kids' toys lying around, you can also store craft items like crayons or popsicle sticks in these, as well.
By Humankind has taken personal care to the next level with their devotion to making sustainable change first and foremost in their business plan. Their body wash is packaged in a carbon-neutral box that's recyclable, and they really place a lot of emphasis on this part of the product.
The blood orange and bergamot scent is very fresh and clean, leaving your entire home smelling great after each use. It's non-irritating, made of natural ingredients, and even works well on sensitive skin. You can use it for self-care days and indulge in it on weekends.
MATE the label is an organic slow fashion brand that has a ton of minimal pieces perfect for anyone's wardrobe. It appeals to many kinds of people, and the brand is built on the concept of community and making things ethically. They're starting to sell joggers in nude tones now, which is perfect for autumn.
They also sell sleepwear sets that are super soft, stylish, and cozy! I really love wearing this brand and recommend it because the fibers are organic and soft enough for sensitive skin. If you're interested in purchasing anything from the label, you can use the code 20CHANTEW for 20% off.
Boyish Jeans is a very new denim-based brand, having started in 2018. The styling and quality of each piece they make are top-notch and vintage-inspired, so it gives off a nostalgic feeling despite being brand new. They're great for those who prefer buying new things over purchasing secondhand.
Boyish is eco-friendly and community-driven as well, and they place huge importance on making an impact in reducing our carbon footprint. They have a big collection of jean styles and, although the pieces are made of sustainable fabric, they still feel just like regular denim products. My favorite style from Boyish is their asymmetrical straight leg denim—they fit comfortably and are very unique!
Reel's toilet paper is a revolutionary idea. Though the rolls are made from bamboo plants, it feels just like regular toilet paper. Bamboo is fast-growing, strong, flexible, uses less water, and transforms carbon dioxide more efficiently than trees, which makes it more sustainable to use as waste.
As we're all facing the pandemic, it's great that Reel offers delivery options and subscriptions for their toilet paper. Plus, proceeds from their sales help provide toilets for those in need!
The company is also Black-owned, which makes this product even more special to me. If you want to try this brand out, be sure to use the code CHANTE for 20% off first time subscription and single purchases on their website.
Patagonia is a designer brand that encourages people to get out and explore with their unique and stylish outdoor clothing and gear. They're also very mindful about consumption and waste and actively participate in spreading awareness about and taking action towards solving the environmental crisis.
The company understands how toxic it can be to continue filling up landfills with unwanted textiles, so they have a program called "worn wear," where they offer guides and tips about how to care for and repair your clothing so you can wear them for longer. You can even bring them into the store for repairs!
They've also started a used clothing store online so that you can buy secondhand Patagonia products that have been cleaned and repaired by official staff. You can even sell your used items back for credit, so you know that your clothing will last for a long time even if it does change hands.
Public Goods is a great hub for all sorts of sustainable products, which can make it much easier to transition to a low-waste lifestyle. They offer products like snacks, sustainable toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and so much more!
The brand also emphasizes recycling your used bottles of cleaning supplies or self-care goods by offering plenty of refill options. However, my favorite item is their reusable produce bags.
You can keep the bags in your car so that you don't have to use a plastic bag on your weekly grocery shopping trips! They're large and sturdy enough to hold a bunch of produce, which makes them a great investment.

Similar to Public Goods, the Eco Warrior is all about waste-free living. They have plenty of sustainable products to choose from, mostly focusing on areas of the house such as the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. Many of their products are organic, and, of course, all of them are eco-friendly.
One of the products I love is their laundry detergent. It has such a great, fresh scent that you can't help but want to hang around your laundry room just to smell it! You can choose from fragrances such as citrus fresh and clean linen.
Another perk is that the bottles are recyclable and all their products are shipped carbon-neutral. This means that the method of sending the package has been requested specifically to offset any carbon dioxide emissions.
My grandma was a huge reason for my move towards a sustainable lifestyle. She would always make my cousin and I clean our plates before we could do anything else—no matter how pressing the issue could be! She was big on not wasting food because so many have gone without, which really influenced my way of thinking.
The move towards leading a sustainable lifestyle can seem hard at first, but it's really just about making good, conscious choices. I hope that my list has helped you to discover new products that inspire you to begin your journey towards low-waste living.
