There are two types of allergy-friendly bedding – hypoallergenic and anti-allergy. Hypoallergenic bedding is made from materials that are naturally mold-, mildew-, and dust mite-resistant, and so less likely to trigger allergic reactions.
Anti-allergy bedding, on the other hand, is chemically treated to repel dust mites. While they essentially serve the same purpose, anti-allergy bedding is better suited for people who have more severe allergic reactions.
This guide will focus primarily on hypoallergenic pillows, although there are overlapping criteria when choosing anti-allergy pillows as well.
They do need to be washed fairly regularly, though. If you’d prefer to wash just the cover and not the whole pillow, these might not be for you.
If you like your pillow soft and malleable, a polyester synthetic down filling will be your best bet. Look for a higher loft if you like to really sink down into it.
If soft pillows aren’t your thing, a foam filling will provide more resistance. Try for memory foam or latex (the latter, by the way, is super airy and moldable; the former offers more support.) Another popular choice is cotton, which is breathable but clumps up over time. Depending on how much is stuffed into the pillow, it can be super firm or insubstantial.
In any case, pay attention to the sizing of the pillow before you add it to your cart to avoid disappointment.
If you’re a side sleeper, look for a pillow on the fluffier side to keep your head lifted and prevent you from squishing down into your shoulder. If you’re a back or stomach sleeper, the opposite is true – look for a flatter pillow, which will help you prevent neck strain.
We spend around a third of our lives in bed. So, naturally, the way that you sleep is going to affect any aches or pains that you may have. And having an extra supportive pillow is a great way to help alleviate pain.
For back, hip, and leg support, look for a long body pillow that you can wrap yourself around. For neck support, look for either a gel-filled pillow, which will hold its shape and provide support all night, or a curved, cervical pillow that specifically props up your neck.

With continued use, reviewers do say that it loses its shape and become flat. On the other hand, they also say that these pillows are high-quality and very comfortable.
Like the kind of pillows you find at hotels, these pillows are large and fluffy and guaranteed to bounce right back up. However, they are still very moldable, so even if you’re a back sleeper, you won’t find your neck straining.
Reviewers say that the pillows are too soft and would not fluff up. The cooling factor of the pillow and the comfort it provides were a big hit with many other reviewers.
Reviewers had issues with the filling being too firm or too lumpy. You'll have to periodically fluff or move the stuffing around to get it to fit your preferences. However, others say it is soft and supportive, and like that you can request the manufacturer to adjust the filling.
This hypoallergenic pillow comes with a luxurious, quilted design. It's extra-long at 54 inches of length, so you can hug it while sleeping for a sense of comfort. Since you can add your own filling into the pillow, you can adjust it for various levels of firmness and support.
You can also machine wash it, making it extremely convenient to clean. It comes with an extra pillowcase and a 100% satisfaction guarantee from the manufacturer.
Reviewers say that the pillow doesn't offer nearly as much support as it claims. The filling is too soft and the extra pillowcase is too small. On the other hand, others liked the adjustable filling and how durable the pillow is.
Quite a few reviewers say that the pillow has a strong chemical smell to it that they couldn't seem to get rid of. This wasn't the case for all reviewers, though, and the positive ones say that, after sleeping on this pillow, they were able to wake up with no neck pain. Plus, it manages to maintain its shape and not get flat.
Side sleeping reviewers say that this pillow doesn't provide enough support or is too firm. On the other hand, reviewers do say it does help relieve neck and shoulder pain.
Reviewers have trouble with the firmness of the pillow being too hard, while others say that the stuffing clumps inside the case. Other reviewers say that the pillow is a nice in-between firmness between too soft and too firm and is fairly comfortable.
Reviewers say it gets flat and lumpy easily, but most toddlers seem to love the pillow, and customer service is quick at responding if there are any issues with the product.
